Lindsay Ellis, a popular YouTuber, has announced her retirement.

Lindsay Ellis, a YouTuber, and novelist found herself at the focus of a troll fest in March of this year. The ‘abuse,’ as her followers put it, was sparked by her tweets in which she compared ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ to ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’
Why Is Lindsay Ellis Cancelled?
Lindsay Ellis’ “cancellation” began after she tweeted a comparison of Raya to the popular cartoon series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
People began responding almost immediately after her words, claiming that her tweet implied that Avatar, a show influenced by Eastern cultures, was the starting point for many stories with Eastern cultural characteristics.
Lindsay’s detractors also pointed out that Avatar’s authors were white, but Raya’s writing team included persons of Asian heritage.
“She can see where if we squinted when she was saying all Asian-inspired things are the same, especially if you were previously privy to those talks where I had not seen them,” she said in a follow-up tweet.
Her detractors eventually concluded that she was painting with too broad a brush.
The whole Lindsay Ellis thing is a great reminder that we need to admit cancel culture DOES exist. It just only functions against people without power to begin with, usually on the left. We’re tearing each other apart out of performative righteousness and it’s hurting people.
