Rick Smith, executive vice president of football operations and general manager of the Houston Texans, has announced that he will be taking an immediate leave of absence.
The issue is awful, and these are my thoughts about it.
Smith stated in a statement on Sunday, “I will always be grateful to the McNair family for their unflinching support during this tough time.
“Making this choice was quite difficult for me since I adore this team, this organization, and every player both on and off the field.
I’m still dedicated to our mission of bringing a championship to Houston, but right now, my family needs me more than anything.”
What happened to Rick Smith?
The Houston Texans said Rick Smith would take an emergency leave of absence to be with his wife, who was just recently diagnosed with breast cancer, after Sunday’s season finale against the Indianapolis Colts.
