On September 13, 1993, in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Horan was born.
Horan, when sixteen, appeared in a Dublin audition for the seventh season of The X Factor in 2010.
He performed “So Sick,” and the judges had conflicting opinions on it. Even though Cheryl Cole and special guest judge Katy Perry thought he needed some time to mature, Louis Walsh supported him.
Perry opted to vote yes, Cole voted against it, Walsh voted in favor, and Simon Cowell voted to let him through. After that, Horan was sent to boot camp.
He performed “Champagne Supernova” at boot camp, however, he was not selected for the category.
Horan was placed in a group with four other boys who also did not advance in the competition at Nicole Scherzinger’s recommendation, and the judges opted to agree with her since they felt the boys were too talented to let go.
