LaurDIY biography
Lauren Riihimaki was born to Gail Riihimaki (mother) and Gray Riihimaki (father) on August 11, 1993 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is of mixed ethnicity of Japanese, Ukrainian and Finnish and was born to a Japanese mother and a mixed Ukrainian and Finnish father. An only child of her parents who lacked playmates in adulthood, she loved sports and also learned to swim and skate.
With a passion she developed in music, she enrolled and took music lessons on instruments such as guitar and piano. Her knowledge of sports during middle school earned her a Best Female Athlete award. She had only attended Alexandra Public School in her 6th grade, when she was transferred to Queen Mary Public School to complete her junior high school education. After completing middle school, she attended Winston Churchill High School for her high school education before enrolling at Ryerson University, where she earned a degree in Graphic Communications and a degree in Technology in 2015.
Lauren burst into the limelight with her YouTube channel, titled LaurDIY, the channel’s name goes back to her first name, which she shortened, and the DIY suffix stands for Do It Yourself, which is the combination LaurDIY. Although she joined YouTube as a student in late 2011, she was already active with her blog, Desire and Inspire, which she has put to good use teaching fashion and beauty tips to her readers.
