Jonas Jerebko, a Swedish professional basketball player, was born on March 2, 1987. When the Detroit Pistons selected him after Miles Simon with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, he became just the second basketball player from Sweden to be chosen by an NBA franchise.
During his 10 seasons in the NBA, Jerebko played for four different teams, including the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, and Detroit Pistons. He also played for the Russian team Khimki for two seasons.
Throughout his formative years in Sweden, Jerebko played a number of sports and discovered a liking for basketball.
Given that both of Jerebko’s parents were basketball players, his success in the sport was not a surprise, especially given that his friends’ favored sport was not basketball.
During his senior year of high school, he moved to Massachusetts to pursue greater basketball opportunities. He left a lasting impression on the field and received numerous offers.
Jerebko decided to play basketball at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, the city where his father was born, in 2005 but ultimately gave up his scholarship to concentrate on a professional career.
