Lukas Van Der Walt was diagnosed with a disease named LMNA, a sporadic form of congenital muscular dystrophy.
Lucas was born on June 10, 2019, with a rare medical genetic disorder.
His parents, Tjaart and Lize Van der Walt struggled with infertility for eight years before Lucas was born.
Later when Lucas was born, Lucas could only move his arms and legs, but later, only his feet and thumbs could work, and he was found to have the disease, which has turned out to be the cause of his death today.
His diaphragm was also Dysfunctional, and a ventilation machine assisted his breathing through a tracheal stoma.
Lukas depended on his medical machines that required 24-hour electrical power.

Four years old, Lukas Van Der Walt was a living miracle until 25th April 2023, when he died due to an acute rare disease called LMNA.
After a courageous battle with LMNA, Lukas Van Der Walt sadly passed away this Tuesday.
On Wednesday, a post by “Breakfast With Martin Bester” confirmed the little boy’s death from the disease.
It’s unfortunate for the entire world and the nation to lose such a little boy with a disease like such.
Everyone Lucas came in contact with had their lives profoundly altered as he positively influenced so many people.
There will be a significant number of people who will experience a profound sense of loss as a result of his passing.

The Jacaranda FM Good Morning Angels Fund was able to assist Lukas and his family with his treatment cost and many more things.
The Good Morning Angels Fund contributed R35000 to Lukas with his treatment needs.
The segment on the FM radio helped the story of Lucas to a larger audience around the world.
Many donators around the world raised funds to assist and help his family members with the cost of his complex treatment and provided hope and strength to the family during his treatment period.
