Bryan Dobson is an Irish Journalist, newscaster, and presenter working for RTÉ in Ireland. He currently presents Morning Ireland. He was raised in Sandymount.
He attended Newpark Comprehensive School, Blackrock, Dublin, one of the first schools to introduce the Transition Year program. Still in school, he presented a half-hour radio program. After finishing school, he attended a media course in the Rathmines College of Commerce, Dublin Institute of Technology.
He began working for the Dublin pirate station Radio Nova, hosting their nightly Dublin Today program. He joined RTÉ News and Current Affairs as a reporter in 1992 as the Business Correspondent and then joined the main RTÉ News: Nine O’Clock presenter. In September 1996, he was appointed the co-presenter of the early evening news program for the flagship, RTÉ News: Six One on RTÉ One, one of Ireland’s most-watched news programs.
After 21 years of going on to early morning radio on Morning Ireland, he left his position as co-presenter on 25 October 2017. He also presents various special programs such as RTÉ’s coverage of general elections. In May 2011, he fronted RTÉ television coverage of Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to the Republic of Ireland. He worked for BBC Northern Ireland.
