Yumi Stynes ex-husband: Who is Ben Ely?

Ben Ely, an Australian musician, is well-known for being the ex-husband of Yumi Stynes. Yumi Stynes appears as a guest panelist on Studio 10 on January 28, 2019. When host Kerri-Anne Kennerley brought up the subject of at-risk Indigenous women and children during the show, Stynes accused Kennerley of being “racist.”

Kennerley was profoundly outraged by the “attack” and later voiced concern about the potential damage to her reputation while chatting on-air with Ben Fordham from 2GB.

The next day, Stynes called in “sick” and canceled her scheduled appearance on Studio 10, claiming on Instagram that her absence had nothing to do with the previous day’s events. She later explained, however, that she did not participate because she felt it was not her responsibility to argue over Indigenous rights.

She also stated that she believes she would have stepped right into a trap if she had returned to the performance the next day. Instead, Stynes appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, where she said things like, “Kennerley has been around forever, she’s like a cockroach, she can’t be extinguished.”

The hosts conducted a phone conversation with Kennerley during that interview to address the previous day’s fight, during which Stynes referred to Kennerley as someone who lectured her about racism. Stynes’ “attack” on Kennerley was panned in the press and online, with some calling it “lazy” and “predictable.”
