The two members of Yoasobi Ikura and Ayase formed the duo in 2019.
Recently, Yasobi announced their first overseas live performance, in which they will participate in the festival called “HEAD IN THE CLOUDS,” sponsored by 88rising, which will take place on December 3 and 4 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
For those unfamiliar with Head In The Cloud, ‘HEAD IN THE CLOUDS’ is a music festival organized by the American record label 88Rising. It will be Yasobi’s debut international performance.
Yoasobi is a Sony Music Entertainment Japan-formed Japanese music super duo consisting of Vocaloid producer Ayase and singer-songwriter Ikura.
Yoasobi’s 2019 debut single, “Yoru ni Kakeru,” went viral on social media and gave them their breakthrough by reaching the top of the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for six non-consecutive weeks.
In addition, Yoru in Kakeru was the first song to be certified diamond for streaming by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
The Book and The Book 2 by the group, released in 2021, reached their peak positions on the Oricon Albums Chart at no.2. Additionally, they published the English EP, known as E-Side.
Ikura And Ayase Are the Lead Members of Yoasobi
The two members of Yoasobi are Ayase and Ikura. They each have successful individual music careers as well.
Yoasobi is a Sony Music Entertainment Japan-formed Japanese music super duo consisting of the lead members; Ayase and Ikura. Before finding Yoasobi, the members had successful solo musical careers.
Ayase is the Vocaloid producer of Yoasobi. He was a producer, songwriter, and former vocalist for the rock band Davici and started making music with Vocaloid.
Likewise, Ikuta is a singer-songwriter of Yoasobi. Lilas Ikuta, better known as Ikura in Yoasobi, was a member of the cover band Plusonica from 2017 until 2021.
They both can sing, compose music, and write lyrics, so they understand what the other is seeking. And Ayase and Ikura are exceptional yet humble, having demonstrated their potential by combining their strengths as vocalists and producers.
Ayase Is 28 Years Old
Ayase from YOASOBI is at the age of 28 years old.
The Vocaloid producer of the Japanese music super duo was born on 4th April 1994. Ayase has worked in the music industry since a young age and has made significant progress.
He began by producing songs with VOCALOID and releasing them on YouTube and Niconico. His debut solo album, Ghost City Tokyo, was released on 23rd November and quickly sold out the same day.
He made his production debut in December 2018 and became well-known after his song “Last Resort.” Along with his Vocaloid work, Ayase collaborates with vocalist Ikura to form the musical group YOASOBI, which is unrelated to Vocaloid.
Ayase Has Substantial Net Worth
Ayase has an estimated net worth of approximately $1 million to $5 million.
Aside from YOASOBI, Ayase has four other careers: the vocalist of the band Davinci, a Vocaloid producer, a solo singer, and a songwriter. He has earned enough money from all these careers.
Davinci Band Vocalist
Ayase joined the band Davinci as a vocalist named “Keiichiro” in high school in Yamaguchi. Following that, he relocated Davinci’s headquarters to Tokyo, where he performed for over ten years.
A Vocaloid Producer
Ayase continued his musical endeavors on his own by editing stock voice data. He also made computer sing-alongs from the accompaniment he had prepared and written. To put it another way, he became a Vocaloid Producer (Vocalo P).
A Solo Singer
Ayase has produced Vocaloid music and performed solo renditions of his self-penned Vocaloid tracks. The singing of the songs is sensual but also serene, subdued, and humble by Ayase.
A Song Writer
Ayase wrote the song “Saikai” for Lisa (renowned for “Gurenge,” the anime “Kimetsu no Yaiba” theme song) and Uru (famous for “Anata ga Iru Koto De,” the drama “Ship of Theseus” theme song).
Ikura Is 22 Years Old
Ikura from YOASOBI is at the age of 22 years old.
The singer-songwriter of Yoasobi was born on September 25, 2000. Her birth name is Ikuta Lilas
Lilas was born to her parents in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She sings and writes songs, is a member of YOASOBI, and was formerly a member of PLUSONICA.
She is a fourth-generation member of Sony Music Japan’s free LESSON program, which draws on the company’s expertise in placing artists around the globe to identify each student’s potential and provide them with a comprehensive lesson to become musicians.
Ikura Has A Sizeable NetWorth
Ikura from the YOASOBI band has a net worth of approximately $2.4 million.
Though official sites have not reported on Ikura’s net worth to date, her net worth valuation is more like an estimate based on her career and involvement in musical endeavors. Multiple other sources mentioned Ikura’s net worth around the above identical figure.
Ikura has earned sizeable cash from her musical career. Besides YOASOBI, Ikura has a career as a singer-songwriter and a member of Plusonica.
A Singer-Songwriter
Before forming YOASOBI, Ikuta spent four years as a singer-songwriter in the music industry. Ikura’s solo songs are Untitled, Answers, and Romance no Yakusoku.
Ikura wrote the “Untitled” original song when she was 15. It provides the impression that her success as a YOASOBI performer is only due to her activities since that period.
A Member of Plusonica
Ikura was a member of Plusonica, an ensemble that has posted many cover videos to YouTube before Yoasobi’s international entrance with “Into the Night.”
While Plusonica’s instrumental performances are often unimpressive, Ikuta’s melancholy yet robust voice and accurate tremolo technique are exceptional.
Yoasobi Was Formed In 2019
Without much fanfare, a pair of two members formed the Yoasobi music duo in October 2019.
They uploaded on YouTube the music video for their debut single, “Racing into the Night.”
It quickly became a viral success, garnering 50 million views in just six months. The song grew in popularity, and by the end of 2020, Billboard Japan had named it the year’s top song.
And they finally named the team YOASOBI and collaborated with UT on a new collection. The team name YOASOBI is derived from the Japanese term for going out at night and having a good time.
Yoasobi Has Adapted Their Songs Into The T-shirt Merch
Ayase and Ikura from Yoasobi have different Tshirts and fashion products on their official Merch.
Yoasobi brought the concept of wearing the song. With the same amount of care that goes into their music, Yoasobi has converted stories into pieces and is now doing the same with their song-inspired T-shirts.
According to Ayase, “music and fashion are quite similar.” Therefore, they combined the two aspects for the UT collection. The images are taken directly from their music videos, and their T-shirt enriches the world of YOASOBI.
The pale color scheme of Niina Ai’s “Into the Night” music video conceals the terrible severity of the story told by the lyrics. The shirt depicts a scene from the film’s climax, in which a sad young man and woman flee together.
Atsushi Makino’s puppet animation is prominent in Ultramarine’s music video for “Junjo”. Ayase was surprised by Makino’s creative version of the song. An image collage from the video is on this shirt.
