Yahoo Fantasy Football Free Agent and Waiver Wire Rules

Yahoo Fantasy Football free agent rules allow everyone to claim the player without competing with others if no one claims the player in frozen time.

The dropped player gets temporarily frozen for at least two days. This can be changed to 0-7 days by the commissioner of a private league. At this time all managers can profess to add the player to their team.

The player only becomes a free agent when none of the managers proclaim him during the time. Now the dropped player becomes open to being asserted immediately by all and shouldn’t compete with anyone.

Adding and dropping an FA on the same day by a manager still makes him the free agent. No changes will occur in the player’s status. In Yahoo Fantasy, you often encounter the term FAB which means Free Agent Budget.

A budget in the range from $1 to $999,999,999 will be provided to each manager. The same budget will be used to profess their right to an unclaimed player and when allotted, a certain amount will be deducted from the same plan.

A default budget of $100 is set for the attesting player which is subject to change whenever the commissioner decides to adjust it as per the best fit.

Yahoo Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Rules

There are separate rules for weekly waivers and continuous waivers. They differ in accordance with the start time to choose a player and the default time period.

Below are some rules to know:

For Weekly Waivers

  • All players who were unclaimed are placed on waivers at the beginning of each week and the start time has three options.
  • But they all end at the same time i.e. 11:59 PM ET on Tuesday.
  • The first manager who claimed the remaining player will be allowed to add the claims.
  • As per the default rule (Game Time – Tuesday), whenever the first game of the week begins for unclaimed players they would be placed on the waiver. If they are not the one with a game that week, they get to be on waiver only at 5:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday.
  • The First Game of the Week – Tuesday implies that by the starting time of the first game of the week, all unclaimed players will be placed on the waiver list.
  • From Sunday to Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. PT Sunday will be the time to put all those unclaimed athletes on the waiver.

For Continuous Waivers

  • At this part, the players are on the waiver list consistently.
  • Other managers can commence to make additional claims whenever a claim for a player to add is made.
  • Although the default time period is set for 2 days, it can easily change to 7 days for the commissioner of a private league.

A waiver is actually a way to provide everyone a chance to claim the player by freezing the player temporarily. All claims will be processed after the freezing period ends and the manager with the highest waiver priority will be awarded the claim.

The League commissioner can entirely choose which waiver rule is to be used. The process involves reaching the “Commissioner” option and going to “Edit League Settings”.

Yahoo waiver wire rules involve the condition to give you your selected player if your priority is the highest among other teams putting waiver claim. Not getting your claim simply means you were not on the higher priority among other claimers.

Waiver Priority Fantasy Football

Waiver priority differs according to the types of waiver modes which include continuous, standard, and free-agent waiver modules. The claims are added accordingly.

In Waiver Priority For Continual Rolling

  • To determine the signing of a player managers with the claim will be sorted from highest to lowest rank.
  • League Draft is responsible for directing the initial rank. The last draft position in the live fantasy draft or auto picks is given the first rank. On the other hand, the last one to be registered is given the first rank in the online draft.
  • The manager who is awarded the claim will be dropped to the bottom.
  • The “waiver” section of the “League Page” will show you your waiver standings.

In Waiver Priority for Free Agent Budget

  • The budget range for one manager is $1 – $999,999,999.
  • The default budget is kept at $100 which is adjustable by the League Commissioner.
  • Other managers will not have any idea about your offer as the offer will be blind.
  • The range in which you can offer is $0 to the remainder of the provided budget.
  • The manager’s budget (who signs a player) is subject to deduction by the offer amount.
  • The manager with the highest offer will be awarded the claim.
  • Continual Rolling List waiver priority will break the ties.

Yahoo fantasy football waiver order is found in the League Page tab. There you should see your standings which show your waiver rank and order.

There are various factors that determine your order of the waiver claim which we have already discussed above. The major one is the League’s Draft.

Waiver Time Yahoo Fantasy Football

The time for the waiver processing in Yahoo is generally between 3 AM to 5 PM.

The placing of the player on waiver occurs at the beginning of the first game of the week or at 5:30 PM PT on Monday (for those who don’t have the game on the first week) and usually at 10:00 AM PT on Sunday for others.

After the end of the time, the player is either dropped back to the free agent pool or waivers are cleared. The process of choosing unclaimed players after that is given on a first come first serve basis.

Some Tips For Conditional Waivers

There will be multiple managers claiming the player of your choice. In that case, you can make multiple situational claims to increase your chance of getting that player.

The whole technique is to get a favorable outcome on your second claim although your first claim becomes void due to some reasons.

To add one player:

  • In Claim 1, drop player A after adding player C
  • In Claim 2, drop player A after adding player D
  • In Claim 3, drop player B after adding player B

Waiver claim 2 will be voided in the success of claim 1 as you no longer possess player A but because of claim 3, you will still have a chance to put your hands on player D.

To drop one player for others:

  • In Claim 1, drop player A after adding player B
  • In Claim 2, drop player A after adding player C
  • In Claim 3, drop player A after adding player D

Through these multiple claims, you are still able to drop player A for player D.

The end of the League’s Draft will allow them to go into waivers or to have all the unclaimed players added immediately but in order to do so you have to change the setting prior to the draft from the “Edit League Setting” tab.

It is important to note that in the continuous waiver, the player can not be added as soon as the waiver is claimed. All acquisitions made after 11:59 PM PT on Monday should have to wait till the following Monday.
