Bob Stoops’s salary was a whopping $5.5 million before joining the XFL. Reggie Barlow has seen a rise in his salary from earning over $150,000 during his tenure at Virginia State University to $500,000 in the XFL.

NFL is a more established and profitable league than the XFL, making sense to the difference in the salary. XFL is a newer league and is set on establishing itself as a major league and not being able to pay a high salary.
Despite the huge pay cut, many are motivated to work for the newer league and establish themselves in the XFL and compete against the NFL.
