On February 6, 2014 he was charged with two counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. After the arrest, Silva was banned from fighting in the UFC. He is currently living in Oakland Park, Florida with his estranged wife Thaysa Kamiji Silva. Silva won the ACB Light Heavyweight Championship in January 2017 before losing it in his next fight in July 2017.
