Manafort and Rick Gates were charged with conspiring against the US, conspiring to launder money, failing to report foreign bank and financial accounts, acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign principal, making false and misleading statements in documents filed and submitted under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), and making false statements, according to the indictment.
On June 15, 2018, at 8:22 p.m., Manafort was booked into the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, where he was confined in the VIP area and maintained in solitary confinement for his protection.
Was Paul Manafort Pardoned?
Paul Manafort was pardoned by former President Donald Trump back in December 2020.
However, he was released from prison in May 2020, citing health concerns regarding the coronavirus outbreak according to ABC News.
He was serving seven years in prison since 2018 at the time of his release.
