Colorado’s Tina Peters got arrested for obstructing justice.
During the legal process, she allegedly kicked a police officer. Reportedly, the incident took place at Grand Junction restaurant on 15 February 2022. The officials wanted to investigate an iPad under a search warrant.
The authorities then detained Tina for a short period and later released her at the scene.
As per the search warrant, officers suspected Tina of recording the proceedings on Monday, 14 February. The law prohibits the use of electronic recording devices inside the courtroom.
The hearing was for the case on the allegations against her former chief deputy clerk, Belinda Knisely. Reportedly, she got suspended last year for creating a hostile work environment.
The investigators confirmed that the incident wasn’t directly related to her alleged involvement in the data security breaches of last years’ election.
The allegations mention that Peters helped tamper the Mesa County election equipment, duplicated the election database, and defied orders from the Secretary of State Jena Griswold. In addition to that, she faces ethics and campaign finance complaints.
In her defense, she argued her action was to preserve election records.
Besides these accusations, Tina has loyal supporters. They supported her when a judge heard evidence to strip her privileges to oversee the 2021 election. Likewise, they also gave her a standing ovation, cheering a call to hang the current Secretary of State Jena Griswold.
