Apart from her music career, Grimes has also gained attention for her unique fashion sense and artistry, with her music videos often featuring her own conceptual art and creative direction. In 2018, she made headlines for her relationship with tech billionaire Elon Musk, with whom she shares a child.

Outside of music, Grimes had a voice role in the 2020 action role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the music competition game show Alter Ego.

Why is she called Grimes?

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, chose her stage name as a reference by listing “grime music” for each of her three musical preferences on MySpace, she came up with the name Grimes.

She claimed in a since-deleted tweet that she was “plural grime” before understanding what grime was because “on myspace your genre could be grime and you could have 3 genres.” I initially told journalists that I was named after Frank Grimes because I was too humiliated by this story.
