Why is my AC running but not cooling?
If your air conditioner is running, but not lowering temperatures inside, one issue could be a blocked or clogged condenser coil. When operating correctly, the condenser fan draws air into the outdoor unit through the condenser coil to pull heat energy out of your home.
How do I get my AC to work again?
If your AC is not cooling but runs:
- Turn off the power.
- Clean or change the air filter to improve airflow.
- Look to see if ice has formed on the coils and, if it has, turn on the power and the fan to melt it.
- Clean the condensate drain.
- Finally, check and clean the outdoor compressor.
Why does my heat work but not my AC?
Try turning on the thermostat and adjusting the temperature so that your HVAC is turned on. If it fails to come on, check the circuit breaker and ensure that the switch is functioning properly. If you find that it had tripped, turn it back on. This should fix the problem.
