Why Did Ben Oliver From Bexleyheath Stab Grandfather To Death?

Ben Oliver violently attacked his bed-bound grandfather, who lay “helpless” in his bedroom after a stroke on January 19, last year.

He became “furious” when he discovered that his grandfather had been charged with historical sexual abuse of girls just a few months earlier, according to testimony in the jury at the Old Bailey.

Moreover, the 74-year-old was also accused of abusing his wife and engaging in extramarital affairs, but he lost his ability to move after a stroke a few years ago.

According to the prosecution, the younger man had grown “troubled and angry” after having a “difficult” upbringing and had already been found guilty of sexual offenses against a young girl when he was only 15.

After being found guilty, he was transferred to a juvenile detention facility in 2016. However, he was released in September 2019 based on testimony presented in court.

Oliver was also reportedly taking antidepressants at the time of the murder and had previously engaged in self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

Ben suffered from Autistic Spectrum Disorder, which, combined with other emotional and mental factors, diminished his responsibility for the murder.

As per reports, Ben suddenly picked up a kitchen knife on the morning of the incident, walked into his grandfather’s bedroom, and ‘brutally’ knifed him several times.

The younger man immediately informed his grandmother of his actions and did not deny murdering the older man.

Watching and listening to people explain their reasoning will help most people understand how they resolve problems and choose between options.

Only the verdict may be filmed during any broadcast sentencing to protect the privacy of the victims, witnesses, and jurors.
