She beat Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, who finished in second place with a time of 10.82 seconds, and the American sprinter was obviously thrilled with the outcome. Dina Asher-Smith of the UK (10.98 seconds) came in third.
Richardson won over the audience gathered near the finish line with her prolonged celebrations, which included shrieks, flips of her dreadlocks, and jumps over the track.
The 23-year-old stated after the race: “I found my peace back on the track and I’m not letting anything or anybody take that anymore.”
