Theodore John Conrad or Ted Conrad is a deceased criminal who robbed money from a bank in 1969.

Well, Theodore John Conrad was aged 71 years old at the time of his death.

52 years ago, the 20 years old Theodore worked as a bank teller in Cleveland. One day, obsessed with and inspired by the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair, where a wealthy businessman orchestrates the bank’s robbery, even Conrad went on to do similar things just like the film’s plot. 

So, in July 1969, he robbed $215,000 from the bank that he was working at, i.e., Society National Bank.

After 52 years of investigation, the US Marshalls found that Conrad had been living under the identity of Thomas Randele in the Boston suburb since 1970 after his disappearance.

Not only that, the robber had already started his own family, became a local golf pro, and worked as a seller of luxury cars in the small town of Boston as noted in Cleveland.

But, unfortunately, though the case has been solved, the investigators failed to arrest the robber. Actually, US Marshalls did trace the person that they were pursuing the case of, but the person Conrad had already died in May 2021, around 6 months ago. 

Theodore John Conrad’s widowed wife is named Kathy Randele as per The New York Times.

In an interview, she labeled her deceased husband Conrad aka Thomas Randele as a great man and wonderful father of their child.

Conrad shared a daughter with his wife Kathy, whom he had married in 1982. 

The Randele family is still mourning his death at present. 

Theodore John Conrad’s net worth before his death might have been a decent figure given his work as a car seller.

The money he stole i.e. $215k, would have been $1.7 million if today considering the inflation. 

Theodore John Conrad’s death cause is lung cancer, to which he succumbed to on May 17, 2021.
