Life Story Of Frank Kuiack, The Algonquin Park Fishing Guide

Ron Corbett’s book The Last Guide: A Story of Fish and Love features a biography of Frank Kuiack, the famous fishing guide.

The Last Guide gives a valuable overview of the early years of fishing and guiding in Algonquin Park, his heavy drinking that contributed to his sobriety, and his affection for his spouse Marie.

Frank, the legendary Algonquin Park Fishing Guide, grew up on a farm near Whitney on Long Lake, now known as Galeairy Lake.

He was one of the sixteen children of his parents. At an early age, he started guiding in the park by demonstrating to a group of Ohio tourists where to catch the best small-mouth bass on Galeairy Lake.

He shared his expertise to the fisheries team at Algonquin Park to help them create more successful conservation strategies for the aquatic ecosystems there.

In addition to celebrities, presidents, and “typical” park visitors, Kuiack has taken thousands of people from over the world on very special days on the water.
