Who is Yalitza Aparicio? Age, height and biography of the Mexican actress

There is always an underlying notion that you have to start early to ensure the success of any career choice, especially if it has to do with the entertainment field. Despite this, Yalitza Aparicio, a Mexican actress in her mid-twenties, clung to one of the coveted recognitions in Hollywood history. Interestingly, she did this with just one movie appearance which was the only item in her filmography.

The most fascinating thing about her chronicle of Success is that Yalitza landed her first role as an actress without any training to prepare her for the task. For what she’s worth, she has no experience or family in the entertainment industry; she was able to achieve what she is revered for today on her own.

Are there any other intriguing facts about this Mexican actress who went from kindergarten teacher to storming the spotlight? Let’s find out together.

Bio (Age) – Who is Yalitza Aparicio, the Mexican actress?

On December 11 and in 1993, the Mexican actress’ birth was registered in Heroica Ciudad de Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca. Her father, whose identity and occupation are not known, is Mixtec, while her mother, a cleaning lady, is Triqui. It is said that her mother raised her as a single mother, but she managed to give her a solid upbringing. Although she never went to film school or received any training in the performing arts, Yalitza holds a degree in early childhood education, while another in education preschool is in preparation. Details of the schools she attended as a child have not been made public.

There is nothing that can be credited regarding what inspired her to act, as she had never considered a career in the profession. In fact, she landed the role in her first appearance in 2018 after her sister, whom she accompanied to the audition, got cold feet; Yalitza decided to try instead. One thing is clear though, portraying Cleo’s character in Alfonso Cuarón’s hit 2018 drama Roma made her an instant Hollywood star. The role landed her on many awards lists in such a short time.

The most popular of her nominations is the 2019 nod for the Oscar in the Best Actress category. Her sudden rise to fame made her the first Indigenous (Native American) woman to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress category. She is also the second Mexican to win this honor, after Salma Hayek, nominated for her role in Frida (2002). The Oscars also nominated three other Mexican women in the Best Supporting Actress category. They include Katy Jurado (1954) for her role in Broken Spear, Adriana Barraza (2006) for playing a character in Babel, and Marina de Tavira (2018) for her role in Rome.

At the 2019 Oscars, the Mexican actress will face such industry giants as Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Melissa McCarthy (Can You Forgive Me?) and famed actress Glenn Close ( Wife).

Between 2018 and 2019, Yalitza Aparicio had other nominations beyond the Oscars. She has been nominated in the same category by the Chicago Film Critics Association, the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, the Hollywood Film Awards (which she won), the Gotham Awards, the San Francisco Film Critics Circle, the Satellite Awards, and the Women Film Critics Circle. She has also been recognized by prestigious tabloids like Time and The New York Times.

As unbelievable as it may seem, Yalitza Apariciov really accomplished these great feats in a year and without going to any high-level training schools for thespians. However, to play her role well with the Roma, she had to learn the Mixtec language in which she is not fluent, even though she has roots with the people.

Height – How tall is it?

Perhaps due to her rookie status in the Spotlight, Yalitza Aparicio hasn’t shared many details about herself including her body measurements details. However, obviously, she shouldn’t be classified as a tall woman and she sports a sturdy/athletic body type. The actress has long black hair that complements her eyes of the same color.
