According to BBC News, the Saudi security forces detained a young content creator in Riyadh. Following the contentious live broadcast, she appeared while discussing vulgar innuendos with her friend.
The clip of the Tala on social media went viral. The viewers have accused Tala of homosexuality following her chat with a friend in a live broadcast via “Tik Tok,” denouncing the content she presented as rude and immoral.
The Saudi Public Security official Twitter account reported that the detained woman is an Egyptian resident but did not divulge her identification. According to the police, a social media influencer was detained as a result of her appearance in a broadcast chatting to another with sexual material and insinuations that would harm public morality.
However, the young influencer has claimed it was not her initiation to offend someone. The bubbly, joyful style of the young vlogger’s short black hair and expressive features is geared towards teens. Her videos are recognized for their snappy, tabloid-style titles as she discusses TV episodes and concerns submitted by her fans, most of which are about relationships.
The videos of Tala usually consist of pranks and challenges, which are liked by many people worldwide. But her most recent clip was utterly different, which elicited a different reaction. The Saudi Arabian police department arrested Tala Safwan for her recent video, which supposedly has a homosexual undertone.
According to the cyber law of Saudi Arabia, anyone who commits any cyber offense has to face a jail sentence of a maximum of five years and a fine of SAR 3,000,000. However, regarding the case of Tala Safwan, the police department has not published the official notice about her jail sentence and mugshot.
After the news about the influencer went viral on the Internet and social media, the public requested to take strict legal action against Tala on social media.
The case comes only days after Saudi Arabia’s media authority ordered that YouTube delete commercials it deemed objectionable to the country’s Muslim values and principles. If nothing was done, the regulator threatened legal action.
The statement came in response to concerns from Saudi parents that their children were exposed to inappropriate information in YouTube advertisements.
