Susan was born in Scarsdale, New York on December 23, 1946, to Jeanette and Victor Lucci. Her father, a building contractor, is of Italian descent and her mother is of French, Swedish and German descent.
She attended New York High School at Garden City High School, Garden City, New York. After graduating from high school in 1964, she headed to Marymount College, where she earned a theater degree in 1968. Lucci is not an only child, she has an older brother named James.
