Who is special teams coordinator Michael Clay?
After returning to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2021 offseason, Michael Clay is now in his second season as the team’s special teams coordinator.
Jake Elliott, the team’s kicker, got his first career Pro Bowl berth in 2021 after setting a franchise-record 90.9 field goal percentage (30-of-33) and a career-high 134 points. Clay managed the special teams unit (sixth-most in team history).
Along with Justin Tucker (94.6 percent) and Younghoe Koo, Elliott finished as one of just three NFL kickers to convert at least 90% of their field goals and 100% of their extra-point attempts (44-of-44) (93.1 pct.).
Clay worked as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers for five seasons (2016–20) before returning to Philadelphia.
On April 27, 2013, Clay signed a free-agent contract with the Miami Dolphins. On August 27, 2013, after the team’s final roster cuts, he was let go.
