Sean Armstead followed his wife Alexandra Vanderheyden and her lover Edward Wilkins to a hotel. He then shot Wilkins before turning the gun on himself.
Armstead was off duty on Sunday when he tracked his wife and her dog walker lover to a La Quinta Inn upstate. He then chased the pair from the hotel and shot Edward in the back of his head.
Sean’s wife, Alexandra, saw both her husband and lover lying on the pavement in a pool of blood. Both the victims got pronounced dead the scene.

The 36-year-old NYPD cop, Sean Armstead, was married to his wife, Alexandra Vanderheyden. Her current age is 35 years, and she was allegedly having an affair with 20-year-old dog walker Edward Wilkins, reports The New York Post.
Alexandra and Sean were married for around nine years, but their marriage hit a wrong spot.
Armstead was supposed to be working in The Bronx on a midnight shift, but he called in sick. He was in the process of following his wife and her dog walking beau. The illicit affair turned bloody when the NYPD cop found them.
Both Edward and Vanderheyden drove separately to a La Quinta Inn, Wallkill, Sunday afternoon. He was an employee at her dog walking business. She was suspicious that her husband might be following them, so she ditched her car on the road before going to the hotel.
The couple stayed at the hotel for hours and then decided to get dinner from Golden Corral Restaurant. They went to the Dave & Busters after the restaurant.
NYPD Cop Sean Armstead Shooting Details
Sean Armstead was still tailing the pair, and his wife believes that he tracked her through her phone. He then chased down Edward resulting in the vehicle getting crashed into his. After the cars came to rest, the dog walked, jumped out of his car, and ran for his life.
Wilkins ran as far as he could, but he could only reach the nearby Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot. Armstead was enraged and jealous and gunned down the dog walker before killing himself. The dog walker got shot in the head in a storm of 16 bullets.
The NYPD cop then went on to commit suicide.
What Did Sean Armstead Family Say?
Sean Armstead’s family-in-law has said that the horrifying murder-suicide is a tragedy for the victims and their families. His brother-in-law, Joe Meyer, stated that the incidents on May 8 have directly impacted and traumatized his family.
The family is awaiting the law enforcement investigations to provide further details. They have also asked the public and media to respect the privacy of the victims and their families.
Sean’s family could be reached out for further comments, and Edward’s family refused to comment on the issue.
