Paul was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with his original name being Paul Alexander Casey. He was born on July 21, 1977, but grew up in Weybridge, Surrey, west London where he moved in with his parents. Paul had his early education with Cleves School, Weybridge then Hampton School, West London before moving to Strode’s College, Egham, Surrey for his A-levels. Later, he might attend Arizona State University on a golf scholarship.

Beginning his career as an amateur golfer, Casey never failed to distinguish himself from his peers. He posted an exceptional United States game record by winning the Pac-12 Championship for three consecutive times (1998, 1999 and 2000). It was after his success in the 2000 championship that he turned pro. This was inevitable considering he broke records held by American professional golfer, Eldrick Tont Woods better known as Tiger Woods. Since then, Paul has been on two world-renowned professional golf tours, the US-based PGA Tour and the European Tour.

Paul has maintained a remarkable breakthrough since then. His major wins came in 2009 when he won his 10th European Tour event at the 2009 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey. This led to him rising to No. 3 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
