Surveillance video shows Richard Lee Richards, 61, entering a Lowe’s in a wheelchair before a cop, later identified as Ryan Remington, firing his revolver nine times at Richards’ back and side. Shortly later, Richard was pronounced dead.
According to authorities, a guy who was accused of stealing a toolbox from a Walmart and brandishing a knife at a store employee was shot in the back and side in a conflict captured on film.
Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus told reporters that Remington had been “transferred” out of the department on Tuesday. He also stated that the Pima County Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
“To be honest, Officer Remington’s actions severely disturb me,” Magnus stated. “His use of lethal force in this event is a blatant violation of department policy and contradicts several aspects of our use-of-force training,” the statement reads.
