Mutebile was a renowned economist and banker in Uganda. As a Governor and Chairman of the Board of Directors, he served at the Bank of Uganda since 2001.
In 2021, the Central Bank reappointed Mutebile for another term of office. Earlier, he served as a deputy principal secretary to the president at the Statehouse, in 1979.
The national broadcaster Uganda Broadcasting Corporation confirmed the news of Mutebile’s demise through their official Twitter handle. As per reports, he died at the age of 72, on Sunday, 23 January 2022.
