The British man who tragically perished in Greece after he walked into a helicopter’s rotating rotor blade may have ignored instructions to stop so he could take a picture by running back onto the tarmac towards the aircraft.

His mother, Victoria, told the MailOnline that the family is “totally saddened” by the loss of their “beautiful kid,” who attended the £36,000-a-year Sutton Valence boarding school in Maidstone. Victoria spoke from her home in Tonbridge, Kent.

According to Greek investigators, the Oxford Brookes student had gotten out of the helicopter with his three companions James Yeabsley, 19, Max Savage, 20, and Jack Stanton Gleaves, 20.

However, an investigator reported that Fenton is thought to have returned unaccompanied to the tarmac where the aircraft was still running after getting off the helicopter and disobeyed instructions to stop.

According to Ioannis Kandyllis, head of Greece’s committee for aviation accident investigations, “all four passengers had disembarked and were brought to a private lounge waiting for a private flight to London.”
