Kris’s team quickly dismissed the rumors and denied his involvement with the young influencer. Moreover, his team accused Wanda Cinema of editing and releasing the video online.
The firm in return stated the video was edited and taken out of context. They warned the users to remove the videos and expressed their willingness to seek compensation for damages to Wu’s reputation.

Kris Wu was arrested on suspicion of rape on July 31, 2021.
A 19-year-old Chinese college student, Du Meizhu, accused the pop star of sexual assault in early July.
Du Meizhu claimed she met Wu when she was 17 years old and underage. She was invited to a party at his house, where they forced her to drink.
As Meizhu was not the person to go to bars and have alcohol frequently, she was drunk after two glasses. Then, she woke up the next day in Wu’s bed.

Meizhu said Wu was nice to her and told her he’d take care of her. She thought it was the start of their relationship, but he stopped replying to her messages after a while.
Meizhu initially felt sorry for herself. However, she later got in touch with other women who went through the same experience as her.
They told Meizhu that Wu seduced them with promises of jobs and other opportunities. Some of the women were minors.
At least 24 women have come forward alleging inappropriate behavior.
Furthermore, Mr. Wu denied the allegations and said he did not force Meizhu to drink alcohol. He also denied other allegations of seducing girls in exchange for jobs and other benefits.
Wu’s lawyers have filed a lawsuit against Meizu for defamation.
As of now, Wu is yet to face court trials and the accusations against him are not yet confirmed.
