Four people were killed, and three others were injured in a massacre at the Alrosa Villa club in Columbus, Ohio, on December 8, 2004. “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, who was on stage playing with his band Damageplan when the attack began, was the prime goal.
James Niggemeyer, a police officer, shot and killed the shooter three minutes after they began exchanging gunfire. Abbott was shot numerous times in the head and was declared dead right away.
Where Is James Niggemeyer Now?
James Niggemeyer is currently employed by Columbus’ fleet management division and continues to see a psychologist for counseling related to the incident. Niggemeyer was given a PTSD diagnosis and was released from the military three years after the incident.
On December 8, 2004, while DAMAGEPLAN was playing at Alrosa Villa, Nathan Gale broke in, jumped onto the stage, and shot lead guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott three times in the head.
When Niggemeyer was sent to the site of the shooting, he discovered Gale taking John “Kat” Brooks, the drummer who had tried to subdue him, prisoner.
Niggemeyer ordered Gale to lay down the pistol, but as he moved to murder Brooks, Niggemeyer was forced to shoot Brooks in the face before he could fire.
Lead guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott Killer Nathan Gale
On September 11, 1979, Nathan Gale was born in Marysville, Ohio.
He competed in wrestling at Benjamin Logan High School before transferring to Marysville High in the middle of his junior year and enrolling in the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s vocational school, where he learned electrical and building projects.
His graduation was in 1998. After graduating, he moved in with his mother, working several minimum-wage jobs while also developing a drug addiction issue.
Gale frequently grumbled about being seen, which his mom Mary Clark blamed on his drug usage. Gale was kicked out of the house after a physical altercation with Clark that resulted in a police visit; he then supported himself by panhandling and stealing until he consented to enroll in a drug recovery program.

Officer James Niggemeyer Shot And Killed Nathan Gale Details
Damageplan was the featured act during a December 8, 2004, concert at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. Two hundred fifty tickets for the evening’s performance, despite the venue’s 600 occupancies.
When questioned why he was out there during the opening acts, Volume Dealer and 12 Gauge, by club manager Rick Cautela and other audience members, Gale said, “I just like to be outdoors.” “I don’t want to see any local bands whorehouses. So I’ll hold off till Damageplan.”
Gale entered the stage about 10:20 p.m., midway through Damageplan’s concert, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a hockey jersey from the Columbus Blue Jackets. He then pulled his Beretta 92FS 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
He approached Abbott full-on and fired four shots at point-blank range, striking him in the right cheek, left ear, back of the head, and right hand. Gale first shot tour organizer Chris Paluska[b] in the chest after killing Abbott, then he started shooting other spectators.
After Nathan did that, Officer James was forced to fire him, which killed him on the spot. Many people believe that Niggemeyer is a true hero because he saved so many people that night.
