According to Dan Arritt of the Los Angeles Times, he was not much good at studying to get a scholarship to Nebraska. Since he could not qualify academically at Nebraska, he applied to play at L.A. Southwest College and later to Kansas.
After the end of his collegiate career, he spent time in the Arena Football League.
The brother-duo spent their childhood together. In an interview with Sean Gregory of Time.com, Roberson told how his younger brother James virtually always had a basketball in his hands.
