Medico Anestetista Giovanni Quintella Bezerra Arrested For Rape On Caesarean Patient
In the early hours of Monday, an anesthesiologist was arrested and charged with rape.
Giovanni Quintella Bezerra allegedly abused a patient at the Vilar dos Teles Women’s Hospital in So Joo de Meriti, Baixada Fluminense, while she was taking medication and undergoing a cesarean section.
According to the Brazilian news outlet Globo, his colleagues became suspicious of the number of drugs he was giving to his patients. Bezerra reportedly performed two additional surgeries on Sunday, but his concerned medical team was unable to set up a hidden camera to monitor what he was doing.
The team changed the operating room for his third surgery of the day at the last minute and installed a hidden camera. The anesthetist was caught on camera inserting his penis into the unconscious woman’s mouth.
As the hospital’s surgical team begins the C-section, the woman is seen lying on the bed. Bezerra assaulted the patient for nearly 10 minutes on the other side of the surgical sheet, less than a meter away from his colleagues.
Cremer’s president, Clovis Bersot Munhoz, called the horrific incident absurd. Health Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Secretary of State for Health said that we want to let you know that an internal investigation will be initiated in order to take administrative action.
Currently, the Hospital da Mulher team is fully supporting the victim and her family. Cops are now looking for other potential victims of the anesthetist.
