Who is Faiq Bolkiah?
Faiq Jefri Bolkiah is a member of the Bruneian Royal Family, a grandson of the 28th sultan of Brunei. He was born on 9 May 1998 in Los Angeles, United States. The 24 years old player now plays for a Thai football club Chonburi and the national team of Brunei. With the national team, he has served as the captain.
To talk about his early career, he signed a 1 year deal with Southampton F.C. Academy while he was playing for A.F.C. Newbury. He stayed in Southampton for two years. After that, he tried out his luck in football with Reading F.C. and Arsenal. However, he was yet to kiss any glory with his footballing dream. Then in 2014, he signed a two-year youth contract with Chelsea F.C. After being with Chelsea for nearly two years, he left the club in December of 2015, before the expiration of his contract in 2016. The player then trialed for Stoke City and later signed a 3-year professional contract with Leicester City in March of 2016. The contract was extended for one more year in 2019.
After the expiration of the contract with Leicester City, Bolkiah signed a contract with Maritimo, a team in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
