David and his pals shifted there to be near the Short Mountain Sanctuary and, he lived in a town named Watertown, situated in Wilson County.

On the farm of his longtime friends, laura and Donnie Nuessle, David spent 12 years of his life living in a tree house where he worked as a housebuilder and oil painter as it was a new business at that time in the region.

On August 8, 2012, Riemens told his friends Laura and Donnie that he received a call from a client who wanted to do some stone work.

Riemens was going to meet this anonymous caller, the customer who he described as an old man, at the Dollar General store. As per the plan, David left for the Dollar General shop located at 8910 Sparta Pike in Watertown, Tennessee.

At the store’s parking lot, David met a lady friend, a Watertown resident with whom he talked for a bit and further stated that she saw him come at 1:00 pm.
