Chad Read was a 54-year-old Texas native who lost his life in a heated argument over a child custody issue.
Read was shot and killed by his ex-wife’s husband William ‘Kyle’ Carruth in the north-western city of Lubbock. He was arguing with his ex-wife Christina when her husband intervened and threatened him to leave.
Two videos of the deadly incident were released, one by Chad’s widow and one by Carruth’s lawyer. There have been no arrests or charges filed in this case.

When Chad refused to back down and the argument got heated, Carruth fired his gun and killed Read.
Carruth fired the first shot on the ground to warn Read but he tried to get the gun which resulted in two men wrestling with the firearm. Then, Carruth stepped back and fired two shots leaving Chad’s body lifeless on the ground.
Christina Read Custody Lawsuit
Although we don’t have full details about Chad’s child custody, apparently his wife Christina had their youngest son with her. Chad was there to pick up his son as he was supposed to have custody of the child beginning that day.
However, Christiana refused to let the child go with his father. In the released video, Chad is seen arguing with his ex-wife over their child custody.

Jennifer has also filed a petition seeking custody of her late husband’s children from Christina. Her attorney released a statement and video of the shooting that killed her husband.
