Reddit: Who Is Anthony Orlando Sherwin, 23, From Nebraska?

According to a Reddit post, Anthony Orlando Sherwin, 23, from Nebraska, was the suspect in the murder of three family members of Schmidt’s family in a state park in eastern Iowa on Friday. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sherwin allegedly shot parents Tyler and Sarah Schmidt, both 42, and their daughter Lulu, 6, to death at around 6 a.m. at Maquoketa Caves State Park Campground. The Schmidt couple’s son, Arlo, survived the attack.

On top of that, the alleged gunman shot himself to death after murdering three family members. The investigators couldn’t determine the relationship between the victims and the shooter thus far.

The police officers responded to the reports of the shooting before 6:30 a.m. Responding officers discovered the bodies of three family members in a tent at the campground, Mitch Mortvedt, assistant division director, said.

Reportedly, law enforcement found Anthony dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded park area. Searching online court records didn’t produce any prior history of his criminal behavior. 

Rob Greeb, mayor of Cedar Falls, posted his condolence on Facebook and also shared a GoFundMe link for Sarah and Tyler’s serving 9-year-old son. Thus far, the account has already achieved its goal of collecting $100,00.

Schmidt Family Killing In Iowa Park Maquoketa Caves Shooting

A 9-year-old boy Arlo of the Schmidt family, became an orphan after a man murdered his parents, Tyler and Sarah Schmidt, and his 6-year-old sister Lulu before shooting himself to death on Friday.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety identified Anthony of Nebraska as the shooter. Tyler and Sarah previously lived in Lawrence, Kansas, where Sarah served at the University of Kansas, and Tyler was an IT software engineer. 

Sarah and Tyler reportedly moved to Cedar Falls in 2018. The assistant director of the Department of Public Safety’s division of criminals, Mitch Mortvedt, couldn’t say whether the suspect had a criminal record.

Iowa Department of Public Safety stated, ‘The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies of all three victims’ on Friday evening. They also said that they would conduct the autopsies of all three victims.

Anthony Orlando Sherwin Facebook And Parents Details

The alleged suspect, Anthony Orlando Sherwin’s Facebook account, isn’t approachable now. Correspondingly, Sherwin’s parents and family details also remain behind the curtain.

So far, the authorities haven’t discovered any potential relationship between the alleged suspect and the victims. The investigation department scheduled the victims’ autopsy on the weekend; further investigation is still in the process.

Kim Reynolds, Iowa Gov., stated that she was terrified by the shooting and devastated by losing three innocent lives. A Christian summer camp, Camp Shalom, had children staying near where the shooting broke out.

We evacuated camp promptly after we learned about the shooting. The Facebook post stated that all campers and staff are safe and accounted for in town at Little Bear Park.
