Wiki Biography

Adrian Charles “Ade” Edmondson was born on the 24th January 1957, in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, and is a comedian and actor, probably best recognized for starring in the role of Vyvyan in “The Young Ones”, playing various roles in “The Comic Strip Presents…” franchise, and as Edward Hitler in “Bottom”. He is also known as a musician.

So, have you ever wondered how rich Ade Edmondson is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Ade’s net worth is over $12 million, accumulated through his successful involvement not only in the film industry, but also in the music industry, during his career active since 1981.

Ade Edmondson Net Worth $12 Million

Ade Edmondson spent his childhood with three siblings, the son of Fred Edmondson and Dorothy Eileen Sturgeon. The family moved frequently, as his father worked as a teacher in the armed forces, so he lived in Uganda, Bahrain and Cyprus. They eventually settled down in Manningham, Bradford, where his father was the deputy headmaster at the Drummond Middle School. Ade went to Pocklington School, East Riding of Yorkshire, where he became interested in acting and participated in various school plays. Upon matriculation, he decided to study Drama and enrolled in the University of Manchester.

Thus, Ade’s professional career began when he formed a comedy duo called 20th Century Coyote with his college friend Rik Mayall, and started performing at The Comedy Store. Soon they moved to The Comic Strip club in London, as they increased in popularity. Subsequently, the club caught the attention of Channel 4, so Ade and Rik appeared in six “The Comic Strip Presents…” film titles, which were aired from 1982 until 2012, adding a considerable amount to his net worth. During the same year, he was selected to portray Vyvyan in the TV series “The Young Ones” (1982-1984), and when that ended, he appeared in the role of Dennis Carter in the 1985 film “The Supergrass”, and was cast as Guy Fuddle in the TV series “Happy Families”. Two years later, Ade was chosen to play Edward Catflap in the TV series “Filthy Rich & Catflap”, after which he also starred in another TV series entitled “Snakes and Ladders” (1989).

At the beginning of the 1990s, Ade continued with his successful career by starring in the role of Father Rookie in the 1991 film “The Pope Must Diet”, and as Eddie in the TV series “Bottom”, which lasted until 1995. Concurrently, he also featured in the TV mini-series “If You See God, Tell Him” (1993), and in the TV film “The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones: Treasure Of The Peacock’s Eye” (1995). By the end of the decade, Ade had featured as Dewhurst in the TV mini-series “Look At The State We’re In!” (1995), provided his voice to Limbs Jones in the TV series “Captain Star” (1997), and portrayed Eddie Elizabeth Ndingombaba in the film entitled “Guest House Paradiso” in 1999. All of these roles increased his net worth significantly.

Ade’s next major role came in 2003, when he was selected to play Brendan Baxter in the TV series “Jonathan Creek”, which lasted for a season, then continued to appear in such TV series as “Holby City” (2005-2008), “Teenage Kicks” (2008), and in the film “Miss Austen Regrets” (2008), all of which contributed steadily to his fortune.

To speak further about his career, Ade also starred in the role of Noodle Pete in the TV series “Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter” (2014-2015), played Count Ilya Rostov in the TV mini-series “War & Peace” (2016), and was Herr Lubtak in the 2017 film “Interlude In Prague”. Most recently, he portrayed Captain Peavey in the film “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” (2017), and appeared as Gideon Charles in the TV series “Save Me” in 2018. His net worth is still rising.

Apart from his acting career, Ade is also known as a musician, who has released two studio albums with his first band called Bad News, and later he released three studio albums with his next band called The Bad Shepherds. Currently, he is active in another band called The Idiot Bastard Band, which is also increasing his net worth.

Regarding his personal life, Ade Edmondson has been married to Jennifer Saunders, a well-known BBC producer and comedian, since 1985; the couple has three daughters together – Ella is a musician, and Beattie is an actress. They divide their time between their residences in London and Devon.

Quote
1 I find stand up comedy the most boring comedy in the world. It drives me to tedium. I can stand 10 minutes of it. There are some really funny people, but they should be in a variety act. There should be something more dynamic than one bloke talking at you for two hours no matter how funny he is.
2 It’s definitely time to stop. We’re getting too old. We both realised that the show wasn’t as engaging as it used to be. We were starting to look a bit ridiculous.
3 I remember once having to stop performing when I thought an elderly man a few rows back from the front was actually going to die because he was laughing so hard.
4 Even though we work in the same field, we have an intense private life away from our professional lives.
5 The most fun I ever have is sitting in with Rik writing, and we laugh at our own jokes.
6 Performers like Tommy Cooper, who are always getting things wrong, are much more endearing than comedians who are sassy and smart.
7 We have never been strictly political, only strictly funny.
8 People expect us to be different, but we’re not. We’re very similar people, and it’s because we’re so similar and close to each other that we make each other laugh – in fact we make each other laugh more than we make anyone else laugh.
9 A lot of people are obsessed with looking cool. They feel they have to look after their image.
10 On stage, we just want to generate hysteria. We don’t care about looking cool or posing.
11 Richie and Eddie couldn’t exist without each other. They’re two halves of the same person.
12 From the stage I’ve seen people of all ages absolutely roaring at really good toilet humour.
13 It only works because we still amuse each other. After we have been working with other people, it is so refreshing to laugh unreservedly when we are back together again.
14 [on the death of his comedy partner Rik Mayall] There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him. And now he’s died for real. Without me. Selfish bastard.
15 Do you think going to Oxford and Cambridge is necessarily a good thing? I have to say, a lot of the people I know who went to Oxford and Cambridge seem rather damaged.
16 PJ Harvey’s “Let England Shake” is great. It sounds like it’s half way between punk and folk and I admire anyone who plays an autoharp.
17 I like to listen to a medley of ska songs like The Ethiopians, stuff like that, because it makes you feel like you’re going to have a party.
18 [on “Loaded” by The Velvet Underground] Pretty mellow and wistful, like you’ve got a slight hangover and you’re about to have some cereal.
19 I met Mick Jagger once and found that he was a bit ordinary so he sort of fell off his perch. If you see your heroes keep them at arms length. Once I was sitting in a pub in Notting Hill and Nick Cave was in there but I managed to stay away.
20 [on Nick Cave] I wanted to be him for a very long time and I still do. He’s kind of a god, up there with David Bowie.
21 [on “Never Mind the Bollocks” by The Sex Pistols] I was 19 when the album came out, at university and far too middle class to be a punk, but I watched it all with a slight academic eye. It was just so exciting. It’s still a fantastic voice and it still excites me.
22 We only have one agenda, which is to make ’em laugh their pants off. Unless they are girls, of course, when it is to make them laugh their bras off so we can get a quick look.
23 There is a lot of rubbish written about toilet humor – people saying it is childish and pretending it is beneath them – but there is no doubting the effectiveness of a really good willy gag.
Fact
1 Helped carry the coffin of his comedy partner Rik Mayall at his funeral in June 2014.
2 His wife, Jennifer Saunders, named Edina Monsoon her character in “Absolutely Fabulous” after him.
3 Met best friend and comedy partner Rik Mayall at Manchester University in 1975.
4 Is the second oldest of four siblings.
5 Has three daughters: Ella Edmondson, Beattie Edmondson and Freya Edmondson.
