Beyoncé discovered Chloe x Halle. The Bailey sisters launched their YouTube channel in 2011 with a cover of Beyoncé’s song “Best Thing I Never Had.
Their rendition of Beyoncé’s Pretty Hurts caught the star’s attention in 2013.
Beyoncé became their mentor and subsequently signed them to her label, Parkwood Entertainment.
Chloe disclosed to Rolling Stone in 2016 that after Béyonce discovered their cover and posted it on her Facebook page, they landed themselves a record deal with her Parkwood Entertainment label the following year.
“Two weeks after we posted it, we got this email from Parkwood, her company, and we were freaking out,” Chloe told People. She continued, “Then we found out Beyoncé wanted to sign us [to her record label]; we couldn’t believe it. That was Jan. 2 [2014], and we were like, ‘This is a great start to the year!’.
Chloe x Halle released the EP Sugar Symphony (2016) and the mixtape The Two of Us (2017).
Their debut album titled The Kids Are Alright was released in 2018, for which they earned two Grammy Award nominations including Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
In 2020, they released their second studio album Ungodly Hour to critical acclaim, earning them another three Grammy Award nominations including Best Progressive R&B Album, Best R&B Song for “Do It” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Wonder What She Thinks of Me.
Amid Beyoncé’s Formation tour, Chloe and Halle also performed during European shows in 2016, they were also featured in videos for her album Lemonade alongside Serena Williams, Zendaya, Winnie Harlow and Amandla Stenberg.
Chloe x Halle performed in front of a huge audience of over 98 million when they sang “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LIII in 2019.
While the two might look like twins, they are actually just sisters as Chloe is two years older than Halle.
The group announced in January 2021 they would be separating their lives.
On October 1, 2021, Bailey made her debut solo performance with a rendition of the Disney song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, in the televised event, The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World, which celebrated Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. While Chloe Bailey debuted as a solo artist with “Have Mercy”.
