What are the WAN link connection options?
Wireless WAN connection options include satellite, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), and several varieties of cellular technologies.
What are the traffic requirements in WAN?
Wide – Area Network Requirements
These include dial-on-demand routing, bandwidth-on-demand, snapshot routing, IPX protocol spoofing, and compression.
Which communication method is used in all WAN connections?
Communication medium used by WAN are PSTN or Satellite links. WAN operates on low data rates.
What are WAN devices?
A router is a networking device typically used to interconnect LANs to form a wide area network (WAN) and as such is referred to as a WAN device. IP routers use IP addresses to determine where to forward packets. An IP address is a numeric label assigned to each connected network device.
What are WAN protocols?
WAN protocols are those protocols or technologies, which determine the efficient performance of WANs. These have a profound impact on business continuity, a key factor for Enterprises. Technological appliances can function efficiently based on the features they support and the protocols governing the same.
Which WAN technology utilizes fiber optic cabling as a transmission medium?
Service providers now offer Ethernet WAN service using fiber-optic cabling. The Ethernet WAN service can go by many names, including Metropolitan Ethernet (MetroE), Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS), and Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS). A sample Ethernet WAN topology is shown in Figure 1-28.
What is the best WAN technology?
Here are 3 of the most secure WAN solutions:
- MPLS. MPLS is a secure, reliable and flexible solution for nationwide WAN connectivity. …
- Metro Ethernet (MOE) Metro Ethernet Service is a flexible, easy-to-use, transport service that uses established Ethernet transport technology. …
- SD-WAN (Software Defined Network)
Is DSL a WAN connection type?
Most DSL Internet service providers use PPPoE to deliver service to their customers. If you use a DSL modem, your WAN type is probably PPP over Ethernet.
Which medium is used for WAN?
A Communication medium used for WAN is PSTN or Satellite Link. Due to long-distance transmission, the noise and error tend to be more in WAN. WAN’s data rate is slow about a 10th LAN’s speed since it involves increased distance and increased number of servers and terminals etc.
What is WAN transmission?
A wide area network (WAN) is a data network, usually used for connecting computers, that spans a wide geographical area. … WANs also transmit data at slower speeds than LANs. WANs are also structurally similar to metropolitan area networks (MANs), but provide communications links for distances greater than 50 kilometers.

What is LAN MAN WAN network?
LAN stands for local area network. MAN stands for metropolitan area network. WAN stands for wide area network. LAN’s ownership is private. MAN’s ownership can be private or public.
What is WAN network with example?
WAN-Wide Area Network Example
The Internet is a WAN. A network of bank cash dispensers is a WAN. A school network is usually a LAN. LANs are often connected to WANs, for example a school network could be connected to the Internet.
Which WAN infrastructure service is example of private connection?
Private WAN technologies include leased lines, dialup, ISDN, Frame Relay, ATM, Ethernet WAN (an example is MetroE), MPLS, and VSAT.
Which WAN connectivity option is based on Ethernet LAN technology?
Ethernet Private Line – EPL
Like Metro Ethernet, Ethernet over Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) is the type of WAN technology used.
Which three options are classified as Internet based WAN connectivity options?
Valid WAN network options include Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), cable, wireless, and fiber. Note: There are several WAN access connection options that the enterprise edge can use to connect over the local loop to the provider. These WAN access options differ in technology, bandwidth, and cost.
Which two WAN infrastructure services are examples of?
Which two WAN infrastructure services are examples of private connections? (Choose two.) Explanation: Private WANs can use T1/E1, T3/E3, PSTN, ISDN, Metro Ethernet, MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM, or VSAT technology.
