Betty White, a member of the Golden Girls cast, died on December 31, 2021, at the age of 99.
White died on Friday, December 31 2021 morning at her home, barely two weeks before her 100th birthday. “Even though Betty was going to turn 100, I felt she would live forever,” her agent Jeff Witjas told People magazine. Joe Biden presided over the tributes, hailing the actor as a “cultural icon.”
White had a successful eight-decade career that included eight Emmys, one Grammy, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. She is regarded as a television pioneer, having opened doors not just for herself but also for many other women who aspired to work in the broadcast profession.
White’s other TV credits include Just Men!, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the sitcom Hot in Cleveland. White also appeared in episodes of 30 Rock and Community.
White is survived by her three stepchildren from her marriage to Allen Ludden, who died in 1981.
