Secondhand Lions Bar Fight Scene Explained
Secondhand Lions bar scene is the fight scene where Hub fights four hoodies who interrupt their meal in the middle.
Hub had just come out of the hospital as he didn’t want to stay there much. Thus Hub, Garth and Walter go to the local barbecue joint to relieve the hunger.
While they are eating, a convertible comes with four hoods on with music blaring. They stride inside the place as if they own the place.
The leader of the group comes and asks how’s barbecue and tries to take the meat. Hub tells him to get lost. Frankie beings to get a bit angry.
Garth sees Hub’s blazing eyes and tells him not to kill the boys. Hub then holds the neck of Frankie and begins to choke him with his single hand. Looking into his eyes, he tells about him.
He tells that he had fought two world wars and led thousands of men on the battlefield. He also says he has only loved one woman. Hubs push him and tell him to go home.
Angry, Frankie brings out a switchblade and others bring out the knife too. Garth comes inside with a shotgun. The hood drops the knife in fear.
But Hub is angry and tells him to stop interfering in the fight. Garth nods and lets him fight and points to Frankie to pick up the knife. Frankie starts to take his stance and stabs Hub.
But Hub blocks him and beats him easily. When Frankie can’t hold on to Hub, Garth tells the three hoods to join their friend but they begin to lose the fight with Hub.
Walter asks if he should not help. Then Garth tells that Hub needed this fight more than he does.
