28-Year-old Argentinian Professional Footballer, Paulo Dybala, is currently a free agent after leaving Juventus in the summer of 2022.
Paulo Dybala Transfer News
Following a seven-year stint in the Italian club Juventus, Paulo Dybala has become a free agent.
His time in Juventus was laden with the highest highs and the lowest lows. His first three years on the team were fruitful as he was responsible for three domestic doubles.
He rounded out his Juventus career by scoring 115 goals in 293 appearances and established himself as one of Europe’s elite attackers. However, during the latter half of his career at Juventus, his form grew too inconsistent.
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri touted the Argentinian player’s desire to be like fellow countryman and current Paris Saint-Germain player Lionel Messi to be the reason behind Dybala’s waning star.
Since his departure from Juventus, Dybala has been rumored to transfer to Manchester United. But it can more certainly be said that fans of Dybala have been clamoring for the Argentinian’s move to United.
Since a transfer fell through in 2019 due to United’s inability to match Dybala’s wage demands, United’s stance has remained unchanged. The likelihood of Dybala transferring to United is slim.
In fact, Dybala was expected to sign with Inter Milan. Recently, though, Inter Milan has completed a deal to bring Belgian player Romelu Lukaku as their striker and does not yet have the finances to make the same buy for Dybala.
The English club Tottenham has also turned down Paulo Dybala. A major sticking point for many clubs seems to be Dybala’s demand for a salary of 280,000 pounds a week.
Prior to that, Dybala wanted 373,000 pounds a week to remain at Juventus and the Italian club refused and let him walk away for nothing.
As it stands, Dybala still remains a free agent with no club signings near his sight. This is the first time in the over a decade-long career of the forward that he has been without a club.
A Look into Paulo Dybala’s Club History
Dybala made his debut in the Primera B Nacional or the Argentine second division of his hometown club Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba at the age of 17.
It was the same club he had spent his 9-year youth career in. His time in the club was fruitful as he scored 17 goals in 40 matches and was the youngest to score a goal.
Dybala transferred from Instituto to U.S. Citta di Palermo in 2012. Although the transfer was mired in some difficulty due to some mismanagement, Dybala managed to sign a four-year deal with the club.
After a respectable first couple of seasons in Palermo, Dybala hit his stride in the 2014-15 Serie A where he formed a successful striking partnership with Argentine-Italian player Franco Vazquez. He finished the season with 13 goals and 10 assists, being named one of the top assist providers in the league.
He transferred to Juventus in 2015, with a five-year deal that yielded a fee of 32 million euros, along with an add-on of 8 million euros.
Paulo Dybala’s International Career
Due to his family heritage, Dybala was eligible to play for Poland and Italy but he adamantly stated that he wished to play for Argentina as he felt Argentine.
Still, Dybala did not play for the under-17 and under-20 Argentinian teams. He finally made his debut in 2015 when he replaced Carlos Tevez in the 2018 world cup qualifying match against Paraguay.
His international journey in the next couple of years was tense as he was omitted then added but then ultimately not included in many international matches. It was not until 2018 that Dybala was named an official member of Argentina’s team.
It was in late 2018 that the Argentinian player scored his first goal in a friendly match against Mexico.
Most recently, this past June Dybala scored the final goal against reigning European champions Italy in the 2022 Finalissima.
Paulo Dybala’s Net Worth and Salary
Paulo Dybala’s most recent net worth is $40 million, along with an annual salary of $15 million.
After almost a decade of a quite fruitful career, the future of the Argentine player seems to be unclear and its anyone’s guess where he will go from here.
