During a livestream yesterday night, the founder of the Proud Boys and far-right activist Gavin McInnes was interrupted and vanished. Supporters later reported that he had been arrested, probably by the FBI.
The Get Off My Lawn show was being hosted on Thursday by Gavin McInnes, a notoriously misogynistic, racist, and homophobic activist who invented a now-familiar brand of violent right-wing organization mixed with intellectual posturing a la online trolls.
While many experienced internet sleuths think McInnes whom his critics accuse of being a right-wing, racial extremist just manufactured the incident, it has been censored.
He was reportedly whisked away by law authorities, most likely federal, and has been in detention since then, according to a TV network.
Is Gavin McInnes Arrested: Where Is He Now?
Gavin McInnes, the founder of Proud Boys, is the subject of online rumors after his show was cut short live on broadcast on Thursday night, with some of his associates alleging he was detained.
During Thursday’s live broadcast of his Censored.TV show, McInnes, who abandoned the far-right movement in 2018, was seen speaking to unknown people off camera before getting up and departing, seemingly to follow whoever was speaking to him off-camera.
“Can we do this at a later time? We’re filming a show.” McIness questioned. Okay, I’m happy to do that. I’ll go hire a lawyer, and we’ll sit down and talk. We’ll set up a meeting.
Then McInnes moved off the screen. After McIness left, the program continued for at least 30 minutes with an empty set. It is unknown what the interruption was about or whether it was real.
According to the local New York police department, they did not detain McInnes on Thursday, thus “IF he was caught tonight, more likely Federal,” tweeted Will Carless, who covers extremism for USA Today.
