Where Is Clay Shrout Today?
Clay is still alive, and the rumors of his death are entirely false. He has spent most of his adult life behind bars. The man who murdered his entire family and held a classroom full of students hostage could be released on parole this month.
As an adult, he admits to the crimes, claiming he was upset with his parents for disciplining him. He claimed I resented them attempting to mold me into a specific mold without first asking me what I wanted to be. It also bothered me greatly when they took away my weapons.
Clay’s immediate family, which includes both sets of grandparents and his uncles, has asked police to look for an alternative that does not include the death penalty and long-term mental health.
Moreover, he was committed to the Kentucky State Penitentiary at Eddyville in 2016. It was the first time he’d be eligible for parole.
However, the board ruled that Shrout will not be eligible for parole for another ten years. He must have had counseling for his mental health and anger management during that time.
What Happened To Clay Shrout Family? 1994 Kentucky Murder
Shrout murdered his mother, father, and two sisters in their Union home in 1994. Following the murders, he went to Ryle High School and kidnapped a class of students. An assistant principal at the school persuaded him to surrender without endangering any of his classmates.
According to his friends, he had become depressed and obsessed with death and gore. He abruptly quit his job at Rally’s, jumping out the window in the middle of his shift. He came to school with a stun gun and bullets.
His parents made him stop listening to heavy metal and alternative rock and took away his phone privileges and the keys to his truck.
Later, 17 years old boy got ready for school differently than on any other day on May 25, 1994. Instead of completing his schoolwork, he loaded a.380 caliber pistol and murdered his mother, father, and two sisters.
He then got into his parents’ car and began driving. He kidnapped a girl he knew at gunpoint along the way. He eventually went to school and held his class hostage. Clay surrendered to the police after several hours.
Shrout met with two parole board members last week. He told them that the “origin” of the crime was sexual abuse as a child by his mother and drug abuse.
