Danielle Jennings’ murderer, Calvin Oliver, is alive and serving a life imprisonment sentence.
She had a child, Tristan, from her previous relationship with Carl Buford.
The Gwinnett County police discovered Jenning’s dead body on 15 March 1999 in Ashley Lakes Apartments, where she used to live with her partner, Luis. The officers determined the cause to be strangulation as she had a Nylon stocking wrapped around her neck.
Following the discovery, the investigators interviewed several suspects, including her neighbors, her fiancee, Luis, her ex-boyfriends, Carl Buford and Frank McDonald, and her male co-worker who had sexually harassed her. However, all of them remained clean.
One day, the case suddenly took a turn after Danielle’s neighbor told the officers the incident before the murder involving Calvin, a maintenance worker. He began working there seven months before the murder.
According to the testimony, he let himself into Danielle’s locked apartment one day when she was home alone. Furthermore, Calvin had an extensive criminal record, including rape and larceny.
With that lead, police began their investigation and found stolen checks from the maintenance worker’s home. They then arrested him for stealing but not Danielle’s murder.
The case came to a close soon after Luis asked the investigators to provide him with the engagement ring. It created confusion as they didn’t find any on the dead body. However, they had seen one at Calvin’s home, which Lusi confirmed.
Finally, the police arrested Calvin for Danielle’s murder charges and robbery. Later, the accused had a five-day trial which found him guilty. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment with ten more years for theft.
Soon after the conviction, Danielle’s family sued TGM Associates, the owners of the apartments, and won a settlement worth millions.
