David Blake Jr., the famed producer, and rapper DJ Quik’s son was allegedly arrested this week on felony murder charges.
DJ Quick is a rapper, songwriter, DJ, and record producer from the United States who is best known for his work in the G-funk style of West Coast hip-hop. Some of his most popular tracks are “Dollaz+Sense,” “Tonite,” “Born and Raised in Compton,” and “Jus Lyke Compton.”
Downey Authorities Department investigators recently arrested the son of well-known LA rapper DJ Quik, who works as a liaison for embattled Compton City Councilman Isaac Galvan, on suspicion of murder.
Like his renowned father, David Blake Jr. briefly tried his hand at rapping. Under the alias D Blake, he released various videos and singles.
DJ Quik Son David Blake Jr. Was Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder
After a dispute and shooting on Carfax Avenue on Wednesday, May 25th, Blake Jr. was recognized as a murder suspect.
According to MSN, David Blake Jr., the liaison for Compton Councilman Isaac Galvan, was detained a day after authorities responded to a dispute in progress in the 13200 block of Carfax Avenue. While officers were on their way to the area, another report of gunshots was received. They located the victim with a single gunshot wound when they arrived.
Cardoza was taken to a local hospital and died as a result of his injuries. After a brief investigation, Blake was recognized as the suspect and was handcuffed at about 4 a.m. on Thursday (May 26) in Porter Ranch.
Murder Charges Against David Blake Jr.
David M. Blake Jr., 27, was arrested in Porter Ranch early Friday morning and was being held on a $2 million bonds, according to the NBCLA I-Team.

David Blake Jr., DJ Quick’s son, was arrested in Porter Ranch and jailed on a $2 million bond. This is not, however, the first time DJ Quick’s children have been involved in a significant family issue. Quik’s daughter, Davieanna Marlena Blake, was also arrested in 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona, for the unfortunate murder of his grandson.
Darnell Moses Alvarez, the boyfriend of DJ Quick’s daughter, disciplined the child for wetting the bed in that incident. The small child was tragically injured, suffering from a lacerated liver, internal hemorrhage, bruises, and other indicators of serious trauma. Taviana Blake was charged with first-degree murder and was held on a $250,000 bond while Darnell Moses Alvarez’s bond was set at $500,000.
