Kat Graham was raised in Los Angeles, California, despite being born in Geneva, Switzerland. Natasha, her mother, is Jewish and descends from Poland and Russia, whilst Joseph is of American and Liberian descent.
Two of Quincy Jones’ children have Joseph, an entrepreneur in the music business, as their godfather. In addition to Kenya, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Romania, Graham’s paternal grandfather had a long career as a UN Ambassador.
Graham’s father’s grandparents were from Liberia and her mother’s grandparents were Holocaust survivors. The perseverance and survival stories of Graham’s grandparents, both sets, are admirable.
Graham also has a half-brother named Yakov who was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, and her parents divorced when she was five years old. Graham embraced her mother’s Jewish beliefs as a child and attended a Hebrew school to become more connected to her cultural heritage.
For the science fiction and dance film Boogie Town, Graham started filming in Los Angeles in December 2008. However, that same month, filming was halted due to issues with the background actors’ payroll.
In April 2009, principal photography was once more postponed due to schedule conflicts with co-stars and other commitments. Dance battles are permanently prohibited in New York City where Boogie Town is set in 2015. Ingrid is portrayed by Graham in the film.
