In 1997, Vili Fualaau was the victim of second-degree assault by his teacher, Mary Kay Letourneau, who pleaded guilty to two counts of the felony.
Vili Fualaau, her sixth-grade student at a Burien, Washington elementary school, was 12 years old when the first sexual relations occurred. Mary gave birth to Vili’s child while awaiting sentencing.
With the state seeking a six-and-a-half-year jail sentence, she reached a plea agreement that included, among other things, six months in jail, three months suspended, and no contact with Vili for life. The case drew widespread attention.
Kay was arrested in a car with Fualaau shortly after completing her three-month sentence. A judge revoked her plea agreement and reinstated her prison sentence of seven and a half years, the maximum allowed by law.
She gave birth to Vili’s second child, a daughter, eight months after returning to prison. From 1998 to 2004, she was imprisoned. Vili and Kay married in May 2005 and were married for 14 years until their divorce in 2019.
Vili Fualaau Net Worth: What Does He Do For A Living?
Vili Fualaau‘s estimated net worth is thought to be more than $100,000. Vili appears to be living a happy and comfortable life for the time being.
Fualaau has not yet revealed what he does or where he works. Vili and Mary divorced legally in May 2017. Still, according to an alleged interview he gave Radar Online, it was a financial choice made by the pair due to his desire to start a marijuana business.
“It’s not necessarily what you think,” Vili said of the divorce filing to the magazine. “When you apply for a license, they run background checks on both of you. If I decide to be a part of it, I must be licensed and vetted, as must any spouse. She has a background.”
However, speaking through his lawyer in August 2017, he claimed that he never gave Radar an interview and that he was proceeding with the divorce, despite Mary’s desire for reconciliation, as revealed in court documents.

Vili Fualaau was arrested for drunk driving on Saturday in Seattle after nearly colliding with a police vehicle.
According to a Washington State Patrol spokesperson, Vili was driving erratically at 4 a.m. on Saturday when he made an abrupt lane change and nearly collided with a Seattle PD vehicle.
He was pulled over quickly and failed a field sobriety test ‘poorly’ before being arrested. Cops say he had red eyes and blurry vision at the time.
The outcome of the test was not divulged in the police report, which also stated that he was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a DUI charge.
Vili was previously charged with DUI in February 2018. According to a King County Sheriff’s Department officer at the time, Vili was cited after crashing his 2002 Mercury Mountaineer into three cars just before midnight on February 2, that year in Burien, Washington.
The incident happened just a few months after he filed for divorce. Similarly to his most recent DUI arrest, he failed a field sobriety test before being taken to the station, where he was booked and released on a DUI charge.
Vili has not revealed his current residence, but it appears that he has been residing somewhere in Seattle.
