TENS and IFC are both are updated technologies that are used for treating patients suffering from chronic diseases. This kind of technology is also called electrotherapy. Both these work by sending stimulation into the person’s body in form of mild currents to the electrodes into our body. Though they perform the same actions, they do have their differences in how they function.
TENS vs IFC
The main difference between TENS and IFC is that TENS helps in stimulating the current that is generated which initially flows through the electrodes of the body to replace certain parts of a body, and on the other hand, the IFC helps in Converting the stimulation that is received at the point joining near the electric point into electrodes.
TENS is the short form of Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. This device is a simple device that runs on a battery which helps in treating the pain of a patient. This device is attached with a feature called electrodes which help in transferring electrical stimulation to the body of the person going through a chronic disease.
IFC is the short form of Interferential Current. This device is used to treat patients having psychopathic disorders. This device emits low frequencies of electrical current to the body which helps to push to the nerve and reduce the pain. This method helps in reducing the pain and improves the circulation of blood in a person’s body.
Comparison Table Between TENS and IFC
What is TENS?
TENS is the short form of (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). This device is a simple device that runs on a battery which helps in treating the pain of a patient. This device is attached with a feature called electrodes which help in transferring electrical stimulation to the body of the person going through a chronic disease.
This treatment is performed only after all other painkillers and medicines are tried on and had no effect on treating pain in a person’s body. This device can be controlled alone by the person using it without actually any help from a doctor at home itself. This device can be used around 6 times a day with each session carrying only 15 to 20 minutes maximum.
This device is performed on a person’s body to treat pain related to joints, pain during labor pain occurring after the surgery, pain at a person’s back or neck. This method gives instant relief to a person having pain in their body parts. This method is very essential for curing pain.
What is IFC?
IFC is the short form of Interferential Current. This device is used to treat patients having psychopathic disorders. This device emits low frequencies of electrical current to the body which helps to push to the nerve and reduce the pain. This method helps in reducing the pain and improves the circulation of blood in a person’s body.
The currents emitted from this device are left to the place where the person feels the pain in the body. As soon as this is practiced there is stimulation that occurs between the nerves of a person and his tissues. This is usually used for the treatment against depression for a person.
Apart from depression, this device is also used for treating pain related to muscles, joints, soft tissues, etc. This also treated minor pains related to migraine and post-surgery pain. The frequencies emitted from the device have proven to be natural pain killers in a person’s body and thus have been provided free of cost by many medical Institutes.
Main Differences Between TENS and IFC
- The full form of TENS is Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, and on the other hand, the full form of IFC is Interferential current.
- The TENS helps in the stimulation of producing endorphins, on the other hand, the IFC helps in the stimulation of blood circulation in a body.
- The TENS usually transmit low frequencies ranging up to 125 HZ, and on the other hand, the IFC usually transmits a high frequency of up to 4000 HZ.
- TENS focuses mainly on only reducing pain in a person’s body, and on the other hand, IFC focus on the process of healing of restoring tissues in a person’s body.
- TENS helps in stimulating the current that is generated which initially flows through the electrodes of the body, and on the other hand, the IFC helps in Converting the stimulation that is received at the point joining near the electric point into electrodes.
Conclusion
The TENS and IFC are both devices that are used in electrotherapy which help in relieving chronic pain in a person. These work by sending stimulation into the person’s body in form of mild currents to the electrodes into our body. Though they perform the same actions, they do have their differences in how they function
The frequencies of current generated in IFC are higher than compared to frequencies of current generated in TENS. TENS is used for treating mild level pain, and on the other hand, the IFC is the last stage of treating pain. A person should know the difference between them to treat one person going through pain.
